The House Has Wheels!

Today, Bert got the dollies (wheels) under the house. He jacked it up more, removed the 60 foot beams that were used to roll the house off the foundation, and then put the dollies under the house. Once the dollies were under, he set the house back down onto the east/west beams that are actually holding the house.

The house was jacked up a bit more, the beams used to roll the house off were pulled out, and the dollies were rolled under.

The front of the house has two dollies under it, the back has one. The house will be pulled down the street with the rear of the house being the "front." Here, you see the two dollies that are under the front. The shiny cylinder is one of the four jacks used to lift the house.

The two most important men on the project: Bert and Joel.

The rear of the house will be the "front" as it is moved. The front dollie is between the two beams that run the length of the house. This dollie will attach to the truck pulling the house.

And.....I think we are finished "harvesting" and cleaning bricks. We have close to 3,000 all cleaned and stacked. These will become sidewalks and perhaps a patio at the new site.

This is some crazy guy who blogs and also salvages and cleans bricks.
