Pouring Footings

At 501 N. Third Street, footings for the basement walls and the three support posts are in!  This drew some spectators this morning. Bert will be back in the evening to remove the forms.

Footings are poured, then reinforcing bar goes in before it all get smoothed off.

Bert and his helper distribute the mix.

Smoothed, and vertical re-bar inserted to go with the horizontal bar that will be inside the wall forms.

Curing. Forms come off later today. The three piers will each have a support post between the floor and an I-beam under the floor of the house.

By evening, forms were taken off. Tile will go around the outside and the inside of the footings tomorrow.

Then, back at 511 N. Main, the house will get jacked up another couple of feet so wheels can go under it. Later this week, the house will "make a U-turn" so it is facing the right direction for the road trip to its new location. Tentative plan is to head down the road on Monday, June 20. Of course, cooperation of the weather and utility companies plays into that plan....
